That's actually an intentional feature to offer another way to enter theater mode; otherwise, clicking an active tab would do nothing. This is mentioned in one of the images: "Clicking the Active Tab Toggles Theater Mode."
Can you please give an option to disable it, in the settings maybe for those who doesn't need it, I always click multiple times on tabs to open them as a habit, and it almost gives anxiety everytime to then scroll and click again or to press t just to disable it, happening on almost every video.
