Once the "Continue watching?" popup appears, YouTube continues playing. However, the pause button on my keyboard then stops working: it pauses the video for a second before it starts again. It still works when the YouTube tab is active. I'm on macOS 11.6 and most recent Chrome version.
Because there is no way to identify who sent the pause, as long as "Continue watching?" popup exists, any pause will be considered to be sent by "Continue watching?" popup
