Hack for fixing box after reinstalling browser (in this case Chrome): Just wanted to post in case anyone else was having issues with this!
Last year I had to reinstall Chrome on my computer, and after reinstalling it, the floating comment box wasn't working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the script itself, and then restarting Chrome, but that didn't work. I then did a bunch of Googling and looking around on Reddit posts, some of which had suggestions for different Tampermonkey scripts.
The fix: I had to enable Developer Mode in Chrome. If you go to Chrome's settings, then Manage Extensions, in the top right corner there's the option to toggle "Developer Mode". Then when I went back to Tampermoneky, it had a banner at the top that (to be honest) I didn't fully read, but it was something like "please do xyz / something with Inject Mode" (which I had seen on a different Reddit post while Googling the issue). I had clicked on it, because I think it also had a "click here" sort of call to action on it, and then it disappeared and voila. I refreshed the AO3 fic I had been using to test whether the box would come up, and it was FINALLY THERE!!! All my progress on comments I had been working on in the box had been fixed, including in inactive tabs, and I was so so grateful it actually saved.
Anyway, just wanted to put here in case anyone was having the same problem! I posted it on Tumblr and someone else who was dealing with the problem came across it and it worked for them, so I figured I should post here. Happy commenting!
