Tubextend (Mid2014 - 2015 Layout Add-on for the YouTube Redux extension)
This userscript recreates the YouTube's old Material Design layout from the Mid-2014 to 2015. Any full accuracy isn't expected, in some cases.
Also, this script can restore some of the old icons (This is a temporary fix, since the extension doesn't restore properly with Delhi).
Requirements
In order for the script to work, the browser must require ES8, and these following extensions must be installed!
How do I install?
After installing the required extensions, you must have to install the script first, and follow these steps below:
Before proceeding, you need a configuration file for the extension itself!
- Copy all the text for the raw file you opened.
- Open the YouTube Redux extension popup, and click on the save icon (At the top-right corner).
- Paste the text into the "Import from Clipboard" (using Control + V).
- Click on Import button.
- Open the PlayerTube extension popup
- Change the Player theme to the following year:
- From Mid2014 to Early 2015: Change to 2013.
- From 2015: Make sure you're on the stable/dev release of the extension (v1.10+), and change it to 2015.
- Optionally, you can change other settings for your best appearance.
- Refresh entirely the YouTube page (Navigating inside the page doesn't take any effect).
- Now, you can see the layout being applied.
Available Languages
This script detects YouTube's language preference (yt.config_.HL), for the necessary strings. Here's a list of the compatible languages:
- English (United States, United Kingdom)
- Portuguese (Brazilian, Portugal)
- Spanish (Mexico, Spain)
- French (France, Canada)
- Italian (Italy)
- Russian
- Ukranian
Notes
- If the icons from the old YouTube isn't loading properly, this could be an issue from the Internet Archive, which the icons is fetched from the web images. These reasons could be:
- Temporarily unavailable for the web (as stated in November 20, 2025).
- Slow/unavailable internet connection.

All of the screenshots below was/has:
- Converted into JPEG/JPG, with reduced quality, due to the way GreasyFork limits the image size.
- Current page locale (pt-BR, Portuguese Brazillian), may vary different in the user preference.
