KeepMyLayers automatically (or manually) resets layers in WME to previously saved presets. It can also remove locale specifications from permalinks and apply a few minor visual enhancements to native WME layers. Some bonus features have been added for Beta WME testers.

If you don't need all of KmL's functions, you can also get just the simplified permalinks feature here (removes layers and filters from PLs):

Note: KeepMyLayers auto-reset works the best when it runs first in Grease/TamperMonkey.

In TamperMonkey, first click on the TamperMonkey browser icon     > Click Dashboard         > Click WME KeepMyLayers to open the editing pane             > Click Settings tab                 > Change the 'Position' to 1.

In GreaseMonkey, first click on the GreaseMonkey browser icon     > Click Manage User Scripts        > Right click WME KeepMyLayers           > Select the option to Execute first.

Main feature list

  • Prevent permalinks with &layers= and etc. from changing your layer setting
  • Save layer presets in the Preset Switcher menu
  • The Preset Switcher menu can be set to stay open on-screen
  • Preview/hide the original layers from a permalink by clicking the eye icon under the WME Layers menu
  • Apply minor adjustments to the opacity of cities, area-managers, and/or roads layers to improve visibility
  • Intercept locales in permalinks to prevent WME from loading in other languages
  • Simplify permalinks with KmL's own copy-PL-to-clipboard (clickable even when stuck on the darkened save screen)

Bonus features for Beta WME testers

  • Add a Beta-Production WME toggle into the side-panel for forcing permalinks to load in your desired editor
  • Replace permalink icon with Beta-Prod toggle-friendly permalinks to allow flexible switching between editing modes without having to disable the toggle (any layers or locale specifications are removed)
  • Permalinks can still be clicked or copied when WME gets stuck on the darkened screen after saving
  • Sync your KMLayers preferences and layer presets between Beta-Prod editors
