This is a very simple script that allows you to use keyword bookmarks to navigate directly to the first result of an IMDb search result. To use the script you must set and modify an imdb search keyword bookmark to have the query parameter lucky=true.

Step-By-Step Instructions on Firefox

  1. Go to the imdb homepage.
  2. Right click on the main search bar.
  3. Select "Add a keyword for this search..."
  4. Choose a keyword. It can be anything, but I use "il".
  5. Test out your keyword search by typing "il the godfather" into the search bar. You should be taken to this page
  6. Open up the firefox bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl+B)
  7. Find the newly created keyword search
  8. Right click it and select "Properties"
  9. Modify the location to be http://www.imdb.com/find?lucky=true&q=%s&s=all. (The "lucky=true" paramater must be first) 10.
