🛡️ Shadow DOM Isolation (Bug Fix!)

This is the big one. The old version had display issues on many websites where:

  • The menu would appear tiny
  • Links would be invisible
  • Styles would be broken
  • The UI would be unusable

Version 3.1 uses Shadow DOM technology to completely isolate the menu's styles from any website's CSS. The script now works consistently everywhere!

🚦 Known Limitations & Cons

⚠️ Websites Where It May Not Work

The script is excluded by default from sensitive sites:

  • Banking sites (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, Citi, Capital One, US Bank)
  • PayPal
  • Router login pages (192.168.x.x)

Sites where it might have issues:

Site/Type Issue Workaround
Sites with strict CSP Script may not inject Add to exclusion list
Some SPAs (React/Vue) May need page refresh Refresh after navigation
Firefox containers Storage may not sync Use same container
Very old browsers Shadow DOM not supported Update your browser
Incognito/Private mode Settings don't persist Enable extension in incognito

⚠️ General Limitations

  1. No cloud sync - Backup is manual (export/import)
  2. No folder nesting - Categories are flat, no sub-folders
  3. No link icons/favicons - Text only for now
  4. Single column layout - Can't view links in grid
  5. No link groups/separators - All links in one list per category
  6. Shortcuts may conflict - Some sites capture keyboard shortcuts

⚠️ If You Have Issues

  1. Menu not appearing? Try Ctrl+Alt+U
  2. Triple-click not working? Click faster, in the exact corner
  3. Styles look wrong? This version should fix it, but report if issues persist
  4. Lost your links? Always keep an exported backup!

📖 How to Use

Adding Links

Method 1: Quick Add (Recommended)

  1. Navigate to any website you want to save
  2. Click the floating bubble
  3. Click "⚡ Add This Site"
  4. Done! The page title and URL are saved automatically

Method 2: Manual Add

  1. Click the bubble → "⚙ Open Menu"
  2. In the "Add Link" tab, enter:
    • Label (name for the link)
    • URL (the web address)
    • Category (optional)
    • Keyboard Shortcut (optional, e.g., Alt+1)
  3. Click "Save Link"

Organizing Links

Using Categories:

  1. Click category tabs at the top to filter
  2. Create new categories in the "Add Link" section
  3. Edit existing links to change their category

Reordering:

  1. Grab the ⋮⋮ handle on any link
  2. Drag up or down
  3. Release to drop in new position

Searching

  1. Type in the search box at the top
  2. Results filter in real-time
  3. Click ✕ to clear search

Editing & Deleting

  1. Click "Edit Mode" button
  2. Use ✎ to edit a link
  3. Use × to delete a link
  4. Click "Exit Edit Mode" when done

Changing Appearance

  1. Go to "Appearance" tab
  2. Click any theme to apply instantly
  3. Select "Custom" for full color control
  4. Adjust bubble icon and size
  5. Choose bubble position (any corner)

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Open/Close Menu: Ctrl+Alt+U
  • Custom Link Shortcuts: Set in link properties (e.g., Alt+1)

Hiding the Bubble

  • To Hide: Click "Hide Bubble" in Settings tab, OR triple-click the bubble
  • To Restore: Triple-click in the corner where it was

Backup & Restore

Export:

  1. Go to "Backup" tab
  2. Click "Export All Data" or "Export Links Only"
  3. Click "Copy to Clipboard"
  4. Save the text somewhere safe

Import:

  1. Go to "Backup" tab
  2. Paste your backup into the text area
  3. Click "Import All" or "Import Links Only"

Excluding Websites

  1. Go to "Settings" tab
  2. Find "Excluded Domains"
  3. Enter domain (e.g., example.com)
  4. Click "Add"
  5. The script won't run on that site anymore

🔧 Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Bubble not visible Triple-click bottom-right corner, or press Ctrl+Alt+U
Menu opens but is empty Wait for page to fully load, then try again
Can't click links Make sure you're not in Edit Mode
Shortcut not working Check for conflicts with browser/site shortcuts
Settings not saving Check Tampermonkey has storage permission
Looks broken on a site Please report it! Include the website URL

💡 Tips & Tricks

  1. Use emojis as bubble icons - Try 🔗, ⭐, 📚, 🎯
  2. Create a "Daily" category for sites you visit every day
  3. Set shortcuts for your top 3 sites - Muscle memory kicks in fast
  4. Export weekly - Keep your backup safe
  5. Use search instead of scrolling - It's faster with 20+ links
  6. Disable animations if they're distracting or on slower devices
