The UI of Youtube shorts is obnoxiously minimalistic and unpleasant. I don't want scrolling to jump to another video, I want to be able to seek back and forward. I want it to be easy to pause. Shorts provides none of the BASIC functionality I expect from a video streaming service and even adds some terrible antifunctionality like looping by default, which content creators exploit to trick you into watching their videos multiple times if you aren't paying attention. There is a section of the website that DOES provide this basic functionality, though: watch pages. You can seek, pause, change the volume, and easily find all the metadata you want on those pages.
More importantly, do people actually LIKE this tiktok/shorts style UI? I find it unbearable. Why would anybody want this? Not only is the UI unusable, but the style of an infinite video feed that just spews videos at you for scrolling is beyond stress-inducing.
