You can configure whether or not to hide the server, channel and/or member sidebars when the menu button is pressed (by default, all of them are). The "Toggle member sidebar" menu entry is visible only when hide.memberSidebar is set to true, and activating this will keep the member sidebar hidden even when switching servers/channels (but not across page reloads!).
