Automatically mutes and hides the Twitch player when an advertisement started and revert it back to normal once finished. The stream can still be heard during ads. You can also display ads via the "Ads Options" button.

Please share your console log. Everything works just fine here, so you might be in a new A/B testing.
To open your console log it's Ctrl+Shift+K in Firefox, Ctrl+Shift+J in Chrome, and i'll let you check for any other browser.
Couldn't edit in time so i'm posting it separately: Only new behavior i noticed recently is an apparently more aggressive take on how often they're displaying the stream top-right during an ad. They're purposely hiding it now. Alongside with showing ad breaks even without ads to serve, instead they're just displaying "commercial break in progress" on their own website, like it'd do when you load a stream with VLC for instance.
