show the 字 next to the words that would usually be in popups
I noticed on lnmtl.com that when reading a machine translated chapter, you can click the english words to see the corresponding Chinese characters in a popup. You can also choose to show the untranslated paragraphs alternating with the translated paragraphs.
I thus thought using lnmtl to learn to read Chinese would be good. (I do not presently plan to learn to speak Chinese.)
There were a few problems though. 1: I did not want to click on every word. 2: the popups can overlap with each other or cover words in the previous line. 3: There is no way to set the untranslated paragraphs visible by default.
I thus make a script to deal with these problems. To deal with 1&2, all words are replaced when the chapter loads. E.g. 'Zhang Xuan' is replaced with '{张悬:Zhang Xuan}', and 'teacher' might be replaced with '{老师:teacher}' or '{教师:teacher}'. 3 is fixed by loading the Chinese sentences as soon as the chapter loads.
